Supermodel turned media mogul; Tyra Banks is an icon that speaks to my generation. I admire her core values and the achievements she has made throughout her life. She has broken down many barriers within the modeling industry in terms of being the first African American to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated, GQ magazine and even the Victoria Secret catalogue to name a few. Through her achievements as a supermodel she stands on her own two feet as a host, a head judge and producer on America's Next Top Model. But it doesn't stop there, she hosts her very own daytime talk show The Tyra Banks Show that discusses topics ranging from personal style, to body image, to politics. The show continues to boast the youngest audience in daytime and has won an Emmy. The lady's fierrce!
Tyra stands for redefining beauty and addressing issues that affect the generation of today. She is the ideal spokesperson. Tyra has also spoken openly about her experience as a model and has shown that there is more to the modeling profession than what people perceive it's industry to be. Then through her talk show she continues to instill that truth, where the topics discussed show the audience that there is more to the issue than what is traditionally perceived. Therefore I believe it is important to educate people that the world is not as superficial as people stereotype it be. I aspire to one day translate her vision and relate it to an Australian audience.
